Hello everyone,
Who doesn’t love the anticipation of new releases and things that they plan on doing? Every month there seems to be something new and exciting ready to hit the market for our consumption.
Being ready to embrace them with open arms is all we can really do.
To showcase this, I’ll be sharing my top 3 for each category of things that I look forward to this month right here, right now!
BOOK RELEASES.
Laz is a side-stepper: a teen with the incredible power to jump his consciousness to alternate versions of himself in parallel worlds. All his life, there was no mistake that a little side-stepping couldn’t fix.
Until Laz wakes up one day in a cloning facility on a seemingly abandoned Earth.
Laz finds himself surrounded by hundreds of other clones, all dead, and quickly realizes that he too must be a clone of his original self. Laz has no idea what happened to the world he remembers as vibrant and bustling only yesterday, and he struggles to survive in the barren wasteland he’s now trapped in. But the question that haunts him isn’t why was he created, but instead, who woke him up…and why?
There’s only a single bright spot in Laz’s new life: one other clone appears to still be alive, although she remains asleep. Deep down, Laz believes that this girl holds the key to the mysteries plaguing him, but if he wakes her up, she’ll be trapped in this hellscape with him.
This is one problem that Laz can’t just side-step his way out of.
The dude who gave us the Enders Game series now has a new novel coming out on 22.2.2022! I am curious.
COMIC BOOK RELEASES.
SPIDER-MAN LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE! Peter Parker finds himself at the middle of the biggest, most wide-ranging adventure he’s ever had and out of the gate it has turned him into a SAVAGE BEAST! Forget everything you know about Spider-Man. All rules and regulations are out the door and Peter Parker may never be the same!
This sounds wild! Definitely curious what Savage Spider-Man will be doing. Probably much more chaotic than Black Suit Spidy!

Introducing the newest hero in the DCU, the great sage, equal to the heavens, better than his predecessor the legendary Monkey King, even better than the Justice League—and definitely the Teen Titans—(actually, all the heroes combined), everyone put your hands together for…the Monkey Prince! Marcus Sun moves around a lot because his adoptive parents are freelance henchpeople, so this month he finds himself as the new kid at Gotham City High School, where a mysterious man with pig features asks Marcus to walk through a water curtain to reveal himself as who Marcus really is…someone who has adventured through The Journey to the West, can transform into 72 different formations, can clone himself using his hairs, and is called…the Monkey Prince!
This sounds silly and fun! I’m mostly curious about how it will tie in the Monkey King mythos with the character. I also wonder if this will be a one-trick pony or something that will actually stick in the long run!

A KILLER CELEBRATION! Cletus Kasady is the most notorious serial killer in the Marvel Universe—and it’s been thirty years since his first introduction! Thirty years of monsters, mayhem and murder—AND YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ANYTHING YET! With an awesome assembly of creators, this issue will HAVE IT ALL! A look back on Carnage’s past, his present and, just maybe, the first hints you’ll ever get of his visceral and violent FUTURE!
Another wild title within the Spidy universe and this time focused on Carnage for his 30th anniversary!
TV SHOW RELEASES.
I’m impressed by the roles that Lily James and Sebastian Stan took on here. It does look like something properly dramatic and well-executed!
As a huge fan of the original Fresh Prince of Bel Air starring Will Smith, I won’t lie that this reboot isn’t my cup of tea anymore (looking a lot more like modern-day drama series) but I hope people will still enjoy this new take!
MOVIE RELEASES.
It’s a pretty weak month for cinema so I’m stretching my interest onto this movie starring Zoë Kravitz, giving us a refresher of her talents right before she shows us her skills as Catwoman in March’s The Batman! 😀
The Uncharted video game franchise is my all-time favourite series and when the whole live-action movie adaptation went through development hell for the past years, I was convinced the end result was going to be bad… The first trailer that dropped confirmed my worries and I can’t wait to watch this just to rip it to shred and move on to better things in life afterward… 😀
VIDEO GAME RELEASES.
Unlike movies, it’s actually a pretty solid month for video games though! Starting off with the long-awaited sequel to Dying Light finally seeing the light of day.
PERSONAL LIFE.
And so begins the month of February! I sort of look forward to my search for a new routine and new habits as I march into this month excited by all the upcoming projects in my life. Work is pretty much nested into my routine now, especially since it pretty much eats away at a huge chunk of my weekdays. I do now look forward to fitting academia right back into my daily/weekly to-do list so that I can finally see the end of the tunnel of this Ph.D.
With the added responsibilities that come with a new home, it does make you realize even more than ever how important it is to understand your ability to manage time, to find time, and to make time for the things you want to do. Thankfully, I’m not alone in this journey and I’m convinced my significant other and I will learn to manipulate time before it manipulates us. However, once we figure that out, I’ll you all know how we did it. 😉

Thank you all for checking out my monthly anticipation post!
Now tell me what you’re looking forward to this month! Any new releases? Anything exciting you plan on doing?
Yours truly,

While my previous experience with Scott Card did not work too well – I liked the Ender movie far better than the book – this new novel sounds intriguing, and it might have flown under my radar, so thank you very much! 🙂

Glad to be of service! 😛 I have yet to try his Ender series but I hope my experience with it in the near future will not be too bad though! 😀

Another Card book? I am not impressed. But only because he is SUPPOSED to be working on the final book of a second trilogy with another author.
If it wasn’t for that, I’d be interested once I found out if it was a standalone or not. Card can write some good stories (and some really bad ones too) so it’s always a flip of the coin with him 😀
I know I’ve asked before, but now that you’ve moved in together, when are you getting married?

Ah snap, that’s interesting. I imagine you are a fan of his Enders series if you are waiting for him to complete it all once and for all.
Hahah! Such a step in our life can only be achieved once we both complete our Ph.D. and put it behind us. 😛

Savage spiderman eh wonder what’s that’s going to be like Lashaan? My friend and her husband when to 80s theme party recently and went as Monkey and Tripitarka and looked pretty good in their homemade costumes. I loved Monkey when it used to be on TV so I’ll be interested in your review for the reboot comic!

I can only imagine it to be as violent as anything that involves Venom/Carnage! 😀
Ohhhh, that sounds wonderful! I’m also really curious to see if it’s going to stick. It could make for some fun live-action adaptations in the far future too. 😮

I’ve been waiting for Horizon Forbidden West for years, so excited it’s almost here!

Only a couple more days before we can finally dive into that beautiful world once more!!! I can’t wait! 😀

Yess!! If you figure out how to manipulate time, please let us know! There is always so much to do, when you move into a new home. But it’s also great fun!

Exactly! I try and only look at how much fun it is to be even able to do such things rather than stress on how much time and energy it will require! 😛

Pam and Tommy? I have no idea what this is even supposed to be, so I’ll pass.
Kim, however, has me somewhat intrigued.

It’s about a sex tape, if I were to give you a TL;DR resume. 😛

Savage Spider Man? Dave is going to love that.
The Uncharted trailer looked like I had expected… bad but possibly fun (for a drunk night watch).

Definitely point it out for him! I haven’t yet seen previews for the artwork in it though, so don’t consider it as a recommendation just yet hahaha
Oh yes. I’ll try and watch it in theaters just to be sure to get the full experience, even if it’s a bad one, but I’m already convinced that you’ll need to be drunk to even enjoy this a little, especially for those who have played the games hahaha!

All I’ve read by Card so far are the first two Ender books, which I enjoyed. I’ve been curious to try his Alvin Maker series, and would be willing to try other works. None of the comics, shows or movies really caught my attention, though perhaps Kimi might be interesting. Elden Ring sounds like it could be an interesting story, though these kinds of previews don’t do much for giving one an idea of what the game, itself, will be like, at least not for someone like me who’s less versed in them. You two have been experimenting with manipulating time, have you? Well I’m all for that. Not only would I love to know how you did it, but maybe it’ll be time for you to write your own book/comic/movie to share the story with the world. 🙂

I hope to try those Ender books, at least the first one just to discover the stories that put that author on so many readers’ radars. I totally understand you though. In all honesty, I probably won’t invest much time in much of these, except the Uncharted movie and the video games hahaha I actually didn’t watch the trailer I put here for Elden Ring but there are numerous others, especially gameplay trailers, if you are curious to see more of it all! Ahhhh, I don’t know about that. 😛 I’ll write or do one of those if you do the same to explain how you’re so talented in photography! 😉

I need to figure out how to manipulate time too. I’m barely finding time for reading and blogging these days 😦 Oh well.
I’m curious about that Fresh Prince show. I love the original, but the previews of this one doesn’t have me hopeful that I’ll like it.

I hope you’ve been able to do other things that you still love though, Zezee! I’m sure you’ll eventually find time to get back to reading/blogging. Watch, you’ll end up rereading things again in no time. 😛
I’m with you there. I’m curious but not enough to want to try it out for myself yet. I’ll let critics and fans try it and if the world doesn’t roast it, I might peek into this reboot. 😀

I will say, I’m interested to see if Uncharted will be good.

Aww, that white rabbit gif is way too adorable. ❤
I feel ya on the time management thing. I was just working on a monthly checklist earlier and trying to think of new ways to make the most of my time to get more accomplished. It drives me nuts how much of a 24 hour period we spend just at work and having to sleep. D:
My husband is playing Dying Light 2 right now and enjoying it, and I pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West for him for Valentine's Day. 🙂
I hope you have an amazing February!

Tell me about it! I’m trying to organize my own time, on a daily basis, to make sure I do enough of everything I want to do so I feel like I’ve accomplished stuff every day hahaha
Ohhhhhh yes! So happy to hear about DL2 and HFW! I really can’t wait for HFW to come out. It’s going to be WILDD!!
Have a fantastic month of February as well! 😀

I’m also hoping that you discover this whole ‘time manipulation’ thing. I seem to have less and less time – or at least I feel like I’m never really on top of things.
I think you’ll find a happy balance soon enough though and have fun striking that balance together.
All the best.
Lynn 😀
