LEAST FAVOURITE BOOK.

I finally finished this manga series but unfortunately disillusioned myself of its excellence. It still holds a special place in my heart but it clearly isn’t the masterpiece I claimed it was as a kid! 😛

TOP MOVIE.
Out of the 16 movies I watched in March, Blindspotting (2018) was my favourite. It’s a thought-provoking, nerve-racking, and ambitiously-audacious story on class, race, gentrification, and rehabilitation through two lifelong friends—brilliantly portrayed by Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal—who embodies the soul of Oakland with an ingenious social commentary that reflects timely matters on identity, prejudice, and culture.
CURRENTLY READING.

At least I know I’ll be done with this one next month! 🙂
PERSONAL LIFE.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I thought I could get back in my reading groove in March but this month has been insane from start to finish! I can’t blame myself for not being able to read and blog as much as I would’ve wanted to considering everything that popped up throughout the month. For starter, I didn’t, at all, consider the lecture preparation that I had to do for the classes I had to give. And then, I didn’t take into consideration the students’ deadline for an assignment which I had to correct within two weeks (roughly 60 students). With my usual 35-hour workload, I had to cut my spare time to do all these things and I clearly felt that increased difficulty to try and find time to read without dozing off.
While these responsibilities did take a lot of my time, I was able to continue to read a little here and there on top of doing other hobbies that didn’t require too much cognitive energy. I was also quite happy that gyms were reopened to the public towards the end of the month, allowing me to squeeze in more sport into my life again! I’m just going to hope that the upcoming third wave doesn’t kill all this once again.
If there’s anything that this month has taught me, I’d say that it made me realize even more how time management is not an easy art to master and that sometimes, especially when you commit to multiple responsibilities, you HAVE TO prioritize things.
While the semester isn’t over yet and I’ll still have the final exam towards the middle of April to correct but I’m much, much more optimistic that April will be a better month…
I swear I can see the end of this tunnel! I’m telling you!

Thank you all for checking out my monthly wrap-up and don’t forget to check out any posts that might interest you or that you might have missed out on!
Stay tuned for my Monthly Anticipation post coming out soon. 😉
So what’s going on with y’all? What have you discovered this month? What are your thoughts on the books/TV series/movies I’ve checked out?
Yours truly,

Oh wow, your workload really doesn’t sound like it leaves much room for reading or other things, but I am glad you managed and found less cognitive-energy-needing ways to distract yourself. I’ve definitely had times like that where books took a backseat and I focused more on comics and mangas to still read something. Hope the finals in April won’t take up all your time ❤
I still need to watch Blindspotting but I really want to!

It’s amazing how much work and other responsibilities can drain you to the point of not being able to fully enjoy reading/blogging as much as you usually do. I’m thankful for comics and mangas to keep me entertained and giving me the impression of actually finishing up some stories though hahaha
I highly recommend Blindspotting! It’s such a powerful movie that will have you thinking about so many things for so long! 😮
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kat! I hope you’ve been able to take time for yourself too, considering you mentioned last time that you were going through a super-duper busy time! Stay safe!

Isn’t it annoying when real life intrudes so heavily on our leisure activities? I hope that April will bring you more free time to enjoy what you love! 🙂

Thanks, Maddalena! It really is rude of life to do that but it’s ultimately up to us to find ways to juggle both without becoming insane hahaha 😀 Hope April will be a blast for you though! Stay safe!

You see the end of the tunnel? You sure that’s not the light on the train that’s about to run you over? 😀
Good luck in April.

Is The Minders any good? I liked The One and The Passengers but I didn’t love them and I can’t decide if I should read any more of his! Hope you have a good April 🙂

As someone who hasn’t read anything by him before but has heard many rave about them, I’d have a hard time saying if this will please you more but so far it has been wild. I’ll be sure to try and help you decide if it’s something worth checking out or not with my review once I’m done! 😛 Hope you have a fantastic April too! I need to drop by your blog soon to catch up too! So sorry for being so absent lately!

Movies seem to be more and more elusive on keeping track of releases with all the mixture of cinema and streaming releases and I had not heard of Blindspotting, but I’ll be sure to check it out, Lashaan. Thanks for the tip . . . and nothing like being busy – I would say you’d get the worse end of the stick not being busy at all. Cheers.

I can’t blame you there. I think I haven’t seen the trailers for Blindspotting in 2018 too, it might have been low-key in terms of marketing but it’s only much later that I heard about it. It’s really a wonderful movie that will have you thinking about countless things after finishing the movie.
You’re right. Relativizing things adds a lot of perspective to the matter. Hope you’re surviving on your end too, my friend. Stay safe!

Keeping busy, are you? 🙂 I hope you’re able to keep that positive attitude you usually have, goes a long way to making everything work out. I look forward to reading whatever you’re able to post in April, even if it turns out to be less than you’d like.

Thanks, Todd. I really appreciate it. It has been hectic, truly unexpected, but it was much needed to keep me stimulated. I’m convinced that once things calm down, I’ll ENORMOUSLY appreciate my free time even more than ever. I hope you have a blast throughout April too and I will continue to cherish every bit of interaction I get with you, my friend! Stay safe! 😀

Yeesh! Dude! I’m surprised you managed to read anything at all this month. I’m with you there on good time management. Without it, it often seems there’s not enough time in the day to get everything done (although even with it it sometimes feels like that, lol). Hope you have a better April to take it easy.

Maaaan. Tell me about it. I surprise myself too sometimes by getting so much more done in a day than I could ever imagine I could but then I’m so drained that repeating that seems impossible the next day hahah Thanks, Zezee. I hope the same for you for April! I need to drop by your drop ASAP too. It’s been too long!

I get the work-life balance struggle, it’s rough! Sounds like you’re making the right call and making some choices about what to prioritize. Glad you’re enjoying Gotham Central! I really liked the first two volumes, and I bought vol 3 but haven’t read it yet. I was hoping the Gotham TV show back in the day was going to be like the series, but it was very much not. Thankfully it sounds like HBOMax might taking a shot at a Gotham Central show.

It’s not an easy thing to balance, especially when things pop out of nowhere but I’m glad to have survived so far and I look forward to getting my groove back so I can share the gazillion things I have planned for my blog! 😀
Really happy to hear that about Gotham Central! Indeed, the Gotham show was no at all looking to do anything “adult” like this comic book series hahaha the upcoming HBO Max series, if they don’t cancel it, should be much more like this comic book series though! Fingers crossed that it’ll all pan out in the end! 😀 Happy reading!

I like the cat emoji at the end. Ehhh… time management… The funny thing is that the moment I figure it out, something unexpected comes around and then I have to re-plan everything again. Only then, I’m tired from figuring it out the first time, so I take some time… Ehhh… I’ll keep this positive and say that I’m crossing my fingers for the both of us.

Keep your head up, my friend. I hope April will prove to be less eventful for both our sake! Stay safe, my friend.

I wholly endorse the choice of top book! Do not fear though, the back end of Gotham Central may not be as good as the earlier stuff but it’s still decent.

That’s definitely good to know. I look forward to the remaining 3 volumes!
