Every year, I try to set myself a read/watch list for the year to come. I’ve come to despise that moment of realization where I tend to overfocus my reading around new releases and this strategy ended up being the only way, for the time being, for me to prioritize those things that I have been meaning to get around to for years. Today, I wanted to look back at what I succeeded in doing in 2020 and then present my reading/watching resolutions for 2021. Hopefully, this post will be the proper kick in the butt so that I finally get some things done.
I’m a bit ashamed of this but I barely tackled half of these and I wish I had tried harder to go through more of these. I probably underestimated the length of some of these, as well as my time management skills throughout the pandemic, despite having read so much more than any other year. I think I need to approach these priority books differently and avoid pushing them into the next month when a 1 book per month rate is the best way to get through them in time.
Similar to the books I hoped to read, I succeeded a tad bit better here but failed to physically pick these up and add them to my current TBR throughout the year. While they were staring at me from a shelf dedicated to them, I think I got distracted with everything else I was reading, especially once I started to explore digital books/comics. The big takeaway here is to FOCUS on my goals and not OVERLOOK them.
As you’ve probably seen in my previous post, I made 2020 a year of cinematic pleasure for myself and it made this watchlist easy to get through. None of these were bad movies and a lot of these are cult classics too. I’m pretty proud of this accomplishment and I look forward to putting a dent in my 2021 watchlist even more now!
While it should’ve been easy to binge through these, I, unfortunately, haven’t made time for the third season of Westworld yet. The rest were binged through quite easily. I even follow the second season of The Mandalorian as each episode was released! As if that was any challenge at all knowing how great that show is! 😉
While last year was the first time I even tried to create a 12-book priority list for the year and, unfortunately, failed, I think I can get it right this year. I’m keeping the same books I didn’t read last year this time around and added in a couple more than I have been dying to get around to for a while, especially thanks to a couple of trusted friends in the blogosphere.
Again, there were a couple of comics that I didn’t make time for last year that I’ll get around to this year. I added a couple of sequels to things I loved and a couple of highly-recommended reads that I have been meaning to get around for far too long! Suddenly, these priority lists are making me overly-excited for everything even more than ever! 😛
There are so many movies that I want to watch in my life and cutting it down to 12 was painfully hard. I think these would make for an excellent dose of classic greatness so that 2021 is sure to not feel dull in any way whatsoever! 😀
I hesitated again to make myself go through more TV series but I think my love for cinema dominates that of TV series, so I’m sticking with these to-be-released shows in 2021 (hopefully without any delays). From Apple TV+’s Foundation series to Prime’s Lord of the Rings series, I think there are a lot of things that fans of science-fiction, fantasy, and superheroes can look forward to in 2021!
